The Graingers- “Shine Your Light” This song is a bit different from the others I’ve posted so far. First off it’s the vocal version, and not the dub which I often prefer. It also has more of a George Clinton influence, i.e. “Atomic Dog.” At the same time the record has some classic New York Boogie elements to it, which makes sense considering it’s on BC Records, one of the essential labels for that sound. I guess I’m posting this because it’s a 12” I got a long, long time ago when I was first really exploring indie label Disco stuff that went beyond the classics I knew and loved. It also used to do well is my sets back in the day as a bridge record between funk and Disco/Boogie or vice-versa.
