Jeanette “Lady” Day - “Come Let Me Love You (Shep’s Mastermix)”
The sound file was too large to post as a sound clip here on tumblr, so you’re just going to have to trust me on this one.
This is an exclusive Shep Pettibone remix featured only on the Kiss FM/Prelude Records “Mastermixes” compilation released in 1982. The album only featured Shep Pettibone remixes, most of which were only available on this compilation. Along with Larry Levan, Tee Scott, Jim Burgess, and a couple others, Shep ruled the early 80’s Boogie/Disco/Club music remix scene.
If you know the original song, which is a true classic, you’ll immediately notice the differences. The arrangement has changed, many more breaks were added, there are fewer vocals, Shep’s classic dubby sound is featured, and the instruments are different levels in the mix than on the original version. Good stuff.
